Karen Chekerdjian — Designer

Karen Chekerdjian is a Lebanese designer whose work stands at the crossroads of industry and intuition. Educated at the Domus Academy in Milan and later mentored by Vico Magistretti, she carries forward a deep understanding of Italian design traditions — yet her voice is distinctly her own: poetic, architectural, and rooted in narrative.

After returning to Beirut in 2001, Chekerdjian founded her own studio and workshop, building a bridge between contemporary design and regional craftsmanship. Through her work, she reimagines the relationship between maker and material — challenging the conventions of function, ornament, and production. Each object is the result of dialogue: between designer and artisan, form and purpose, East and West.

Her pieces for JANGEORGe Interior Design & Furniture embody that balance of restraint and emotion. In marble, metal, and wood, she sculpts quiet drama — tables that seem to float, bowls that hold more than their contents, and objects that reveal as much as they conceal. Her designs carry a rare sense of stillness: modern in spirit, timeless in feeling.

Chekerdjian’s work has been exhibited globally, from Milan Design Week to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, yet her focus remains intimate — to create pieces that hold presence without noise, and beauty without pretense.

For JANGEORGe Interior Design & Furniture, Karen Chekerdjian offers a vision of modern luxury defined not by excess, but by honesty: design that invites contemplation, connection, and quiet awe.
