Vincent Van Duysen: The Architect of Atmosphere
Born in Lokeren, Belgium, in 1962, Vincent Van Duysen is one of the world's most influential architects and designers. His work, characterized by an interest in reinterpreting classical forms, seeks order and clarity in every context, translating into furniture, lighting, and objects that are innovative yet feel perfectly inevitable. His unique approach is defined by a "soft minimalism," creating environments that radiate serenity, calmness, and a sense of protection.
Key Collaborations: Molteni&C, Flos, and B&B Italia
In addition to his prolific architectural practice, Van Duysen has held the prestigious role of Creative Director for Molteni&C | Dada since 2016. At JANGEORGe, we feature his iconic lighting designs, such as the modular Infra-Structure system for Flos, as well as signature furniture pieces like the Gaston and Marlon armchairs for Poliform and his outdoor and indoor collections for B&B Italia.
The Primitives Pottery Collection
Perhaps his most recognizable line of accessories is the 'Primitives' pottery collection for When Objects Work (WOW), which is heavily featured here. Inspired by the quiet colors of the northern European sky, these earthenware containers are paired with natural oak, walnut, or stone lids, turning simple, everyday objects into timeless sculptures of refined function.
